Good for you for those 10 minutes! Grasp them, relish them, and know they will come again. Somewhere, someone, seemed to imply that we should be joy-filled, happy, grateful *all* the time, but life and our emotions don't work like that. Our emotions ebb and flow, just as our life does. Glad you and your dog had a safe and warm place to go!
Thanks Lisa. I try to help my emotions with that ebb and flow with a daily meditation / gratitude walk. Most days it's very effective, and then there are some days where the emotional tide is a little tougher to swim against :)
I completely understand. Walking helps clear my mind and relieves my stress, too. I miss it. Haven't gone for a nice, long walk since March 2020. 😉 Luckily, I have a variety of "tools" in my toolbox so when one just doesn't seem to work, or I can't do it (like my walking), I have others: writing, tapping (great for talking/venting, crying, releasing), playing the positive "what if..." scenarios, watching funny/favorite TV shows or movies, listening to music, meditations.
For me, grieving has taught me to simply acknowledge the fact I'm angry, fearful, sorrowful, or anxious at the moment, and they are all normal feelings to have, so it's okay to have them. Then, I can ride them out knowing in an hour or by the next day, I'll feel better or differently, (rather than fighting NOT to have those feelings). ❤️🕯☮️
That's great that you have a lot of tools, and I agree with the practice of acknowledging our emotions/feelings/thoughts and moving along. I try to channel the Buddhist approach that all these things are impermanent, fleeting.
My "gratitude journey" is definitely highlighted when I write my daily journal. I have a section specifically for Gratitude and I usually have a handful of thoughts every day about how grateful I am for my life and circumstances. Have a great day! Ernie
Thanks Ernie! I have tried a few times to keep a journal, for these sort of thoughts and for just end of day wrapup kind of thoughts. Sadly, I'm not terribly good at sticking to that. I do have a great device to use for that though - the Remarkable 2.

Nice thoughts, Patrick!
