Thanks for this Patrick. Are you paying for Gemini Advanced? This seems to be the only way to access it at the moment, right? I find it a bit frustrating that ChatGPT Deep Research is only available to paying customers (200$). I've used Perplexity Deep Research because I got a year Pro for free through my mobile provider. But interestingly, although it did an in-depth research and looked at 45 sources - it could not (or did not) name any sources on request. :(

Hi Alicia! I do pay for Gemini Advanced, and for a ChatGPT Plus plan. When OpenAI announced their Deep Research on February 2 they said this about access to it:

"Deep research in ChatGPT is currently very compute intensive. The longer it takes to research a query, the more inference compute is required. We are starting with a version optimized for Pro users today, with up to 100 queries per month. Plus and Team users will get access next, followed by Enterprise."

I'm hoping to see it hit Plus plans soon. Perplexity allows free users some access to their Deep Research model: "Pro subscribers get unlimited Deep Research queries, while non-subscribers will have access to a limited number of answers per day."

I've had good results with Perplexity's model, including citing of sources. Was planning to write a little on that today, now hoping I'll do that tomorrow.
