Today's Example of AI-driven Voice-to-text Greatness
Voice-to-text with Google Assistant on Pixel 7 is a joy to use
I posted here recently about how cool is is to see a bit of AI in use in my long-time favorite To-do app, and in another post I called voice-to-text powered by Google Assistant the secret weapon in the Google Pixel 6 and 7 smartphone models. A little excerpt from that secret weapon post:
It's not a little faster than Gboard (or any other virtual keyboard) used to be. It's not a lot faster either. It is night and day faster, lightyears faster. For any of us who use our phones for note taking on a daily (or more multiple times per day) basis, this saves a ton of time and effort.
And it's not just the speed that has improved this much; the accuracy has too, and so has the range of things we can do to keep our flow while using it.
Speaking of AI, this weekend I’ve made a little start on an ISACA course about it, and taking notes for this was a perfect reminder of how great the Assistant/AI-driven voice-to-text is. Here’s one section of my notes where text was rendered almost perfectly in Nimbus Note - the exception being that Assistant maybe has a liking for Mexican food:
The block of text at the top of the post was near flawless, as it so often is; the only edits I usually have to make are things like spaces before and after hyphens or similarly small things that a lot of people might not even sweat over.
The only times I see voice-to-text rendering my spoken words with a much higher error rate is when using certain apps that for whatever reason don’t seem to be very good at this. I’ve tested this out enough to see that not only is there that variation, but also that Nimbus Note is the best of the best experiences.
An obsession with fajitas points to sentience.
I love it! A fajita made out of a Cheetah! 😁
