Pocket is one of those apps that does a single thing and does it very very well. It makes it easy to save interesting things - articles, posts, videos - to look at again, or look at for the first time when you have more time and can pay them more attention.
Although this is a simple task, it’s also a very useful one. It’s great if you’re researching a topic, studying a topic or topics, trying to build up your knowledge on a work-related subject, saving favorite moments type posts (my team just won the World Series sort of thing), and lots more I’m sure.
And … it’s easy. With just a few quick clicks or taps you can save a thing, and add a tag if you like. You can do this via its browser extension for most/all popular browser, via the “Save To” option on an Android phone, and I imagine the equivalent on an iPhone.
Here’s a quick video tour of Pocket. I’ll preface this by saying two things: 1) I have the video creation skills of a guy who should stick to typing :) and 2) The Nimbus Note app (which I really need to post about and sing its praises) made this very easy even for video creating newbie like me.
Hey, Patrick! Nice review of Pocket! I started using Pocket after reading Tiago Forte's book, Building a Second Brain. I do find Pocket a handy way to set aside reading I want to do in the future; however, I am not very disciplined about going back to the "Pocket Inbasket" to catch up on what I set aside.
Good stuff! Thanks for posting! Ernie
