This is a little bit of a lazy, midweek post, apologies - but it’s been a busy week. I’m just going to talk about the little milestone for Tech & Nonsense and then also about a second bit of news that is big for me, a wonderful new job.
The milestone for my publication is the 100 subscribers mark that it reached last week. I know that in the grand scheme of things here at Substack this is a drop in an ocean. A tiny blip (if even that) on the radar, compared to some of the many, many wonderful publications on this platform. And that’s fine by me. I’m writing here because I enjoy it. I have no grand ambitions, or grand writing skills for that matter, to compete with the giant fish here.
Thank You
I do want to say a big thank you to all of you who are subscribers here. Thanks for being here - whether you’ve read zero posts so far, or any more than that. Thanks especially to those of you who are leaving comments on my posts - those are always fun to see and fun to respond to. If there are any topics you would like to see more of here, or less of, please let me know.
New Job
My busy week is partly due to starting a new job. It’s a great job - working at my local energy utility, Austin Energy, and for the City of Austin - a city I have grown to love more and more over the course 22 years living in it. My first onboarding day on Monday had a section that shared some Austin history. It also offered a great overview of the the vision (30 year plan) for the city along with city goals and values. That part was genuinely inspirational for me. I can honestly say I admire the plans, the vision, the goals, and most of all the values of this city.
I’m happy, excited, and grateful for this new opportunity, and hope and expect to be Austin energized by it in the coming days and weeks and hopefully years - excuse the terrible pun :)
Congrats on the new job and the Subscribers milestone. Those should be great reassurance that you're doing just fine. Go ahead, bask in it for awhile and enjoy the mSydtin area. Austin is an experience all of it's own.
Now that you've reached 100 subscribers next goal is 200! Congratulations Patrick- these are exciting milestones.
